In 2015, Constitution became the first son of world-class sire Tapit to win Grade 1 races in back-to-back years. His 111 Beyer Speed Figure also makes him the fastest racehorse around two turns ever sired by Tapit.
Making his 4-year-old debut, Constitution established a solid early pace before turning back the challenge of defending winner Lea to score an impressive wire-to-wire victory in the $500,000 Donn Handicap (G1) at Gulfstream.
Constitution was named a TDN Rising Star following his professional debut victory sprinting seven furlongs at Gulfstream. He returned to dominate a loaded Allowance race in his second start, defeating classic winner Tonalist by 3 1/4 lengths at 1 1/16 miles.
Constitution remained flawless in the $1,000,000 Florida Derby (G1), bravely darting through a small hole at the rail to win the prestigious 1 1/8-mile event for 3-year-olds. The undefeated colt joined rare company by winning the Florida Derby in just his third start.
